  1. Trump doesn’t get that Republicans live in those states, too, or he just doesn’t care and wants to hurt people.

Well, considering those 5 states pay over 1 trillion in federal taxes per year, I’d say they should just take the 10 billion out of that and use it to fund childcare.

If Trump is going to target wealthy blue states for funding, they can target the feds right back.

See how that works out for the red welfare states.

Remember when the mongos did a civil war to keep slaves? They lost because of money and industry.

Seems like no one learned a lesson.

So he’s cutting funding to all blue states due to suspected fraud in just 1… good thing Trump is a uniter. 🙄

  4. I would say something about not punishing the class for one student’s alleged crimes. But I think we all know this is just an excuse for the Trump admin to continue being evil assholes. The mechanics of it are completely irrelevant.

  5. First it was all the states. Now weak pissboy has backed off somewhat, making it explicit that this is a partisan political exercise. Get fucky with the well being of kids, parents and families, and the Republican party will pay dearly in the subsequent elections.

These framing attempts are signs that he’s trying to ‘win back’ faltering base support. Partisan line drawing about funding child care appeals to tribal impulses of the base, but really poisons the low to mid information independent voter view of the President and by association his party.

Is he doing the same for red state Mississippi for their welfare fraud scandal? All parties involved in that scandal are white men and most likely republican so I guess they get a pass?

  7. Blue states should just stop funding the Federal government until the Trump admin is removed.

When a President cuts funding, courts generally give them the benefit of the doubt (aka presumption of regularity) that they are doing it for a legitimate policy reason. By explicitly connecting the cuts to the states’ political affiliation he hands over the evidence needed to prove his actions are illegal.

It’s been reported that Senator Rick Scott of Florida was convicted of Medicare fraud while head of a hospital system. Red state fraud I think.

So the federal government is demanding receipts and photos to release funding? Sounds less like a fraud prevention and more like ‘we’re gonna make this as painful as possible’

  11. Blue states still have poor maga voters.

Go ahead, make em suffer as well then.

    What a douche.

  12. why punish all because of one, without substantial evidence of fraud in the blue states? this is an extreme politically motivated move

  13. If it weren’t for the “blue” states, there would be no funds to give to the “red” ones.

  14. God, the fact that this doesn’t immediately trigger impeachment and removal motions just shows how broken the government has become.

All blue states should respond by cutting 100% access to any social program to all Republicans.

Kick it to the courts so they can twist the knots further by saying Trump doing it is in his power, but states rights don’t matter and are political.

More evidence he has abandoned his oath of office. Add this to the list of impeachable offenses.

  17. purplebrown_updown on

When this is all said and done, I wouldn’t mind a dem using the same justification to cut off farmers and dumbasses like the teamsters who keep on voting for republicans even though its been the dems that have always fought for them.

    >”It’s not clear whether the freeze was inspired by specific fraud allegations or solely for political reasons.”

    Y’all already know the answer

  19. I can’t think of anything that will reach those in power better than a real, widespread general strike.

  20. Rural areas full of people that voted for him are gonna be disproportionately screwed by this. Between this and vetoing the Arkansas Valley Conduit he’s doing a great job of pissing away Republican votes in Colorado and making this State even more of a lock for Democrats in November and in 2028.

  21. And there goes the President vindictively and illegally taking funds away from those he views as political enemies with the thinnest, flimsiest excuse in the fucking book. AGAIN. Are we great again? When do I wake up from this nightmare

  22. Ok-disaster2022 on

Checks notes, there was no widespread, and the alleged fraud wasn’t in welfare.

Also Pedo Trump has committed billions of dollars worth of fraud.

Can someone just tell me when I’m going to be homeless or disappeared please? This death by a 1000 cuts is getting old.

I’m on SSDI, Medicaid / Medicare, and in public housing. I’ve been terrified all of 2025 and I’m tired.

  24. iamliterallyonfire on

You can’t pick and choose who you want to support. That isn’t how being president works asshole.

  25. I’ll say this once, very clearly, for those in the back. THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO CUT FUNDING TO ANYTHING. ONLY CONGRESS DOES. EXECUTIVE ORDERS DO NOT CHANGE THIS FACT.
