It’s expected that some newly elected conservatives would be reluctant to cross the floor especially in ridings that voted for the conservatives by a decent margin. The ones to watch for are the ones in marginal seats. This isn’t some grand conspiracy though looking at some of the responses to this on social media. It isn’t shocking that any party that is a couple of seats away from forming a majority government would be looking for MPs to support their agenda especially in the current environment. Also it’s highly unlikely that the Liberals would be openly plotting something like floorcrossings out in the open. Any floorcrossings that happen in the near future will be a surprise like what happened with Ma to limit the potential damage from the CPC and others.

This makes me start to doubt that there are going to be more floor crossers, if the Liberals are desperate enough to be approaching literally every MP. Anderson would clearly never cross the floor, he’s quite ideologically close to the PPC and aligned himself with the ostriches. All this accomplishes is alerting the CPC to these courting attempts and makes them more vigilante.
The people trying to manage these floor crossings just aren’t competent, they let the d’Entremont/Jeneroux crossing leak, which messed the whole affair up and probably cost them a majority in November. Secrecy is a necessity here, but they can’t manage a secret.
This is further proof that the only competent member of cabinet is Hodgson, given that he was able to entice a floor crosser, and keep it secret from everyone. Too bad Carney doesn’t have another 170 of him.
