Remember in The Godfather when Hyman Roth is dividing the cake, while saying who gets what of Cuba?

  2. Months ago, when US sent carriers to the region, I knew it’s time for the oil in Venezuela get some freedom. Drug and democracy are never the problem.

If Trump cared about drug and democracy, Mexico would be the first target: for drug, I’m pretty sure they are much more prominent than Venezuela. And their elections at all levels are either bribed/terrorized by gangs, not actually the will of people.

The VP of Venezuela has likely struck a deal to allow US oil and gas companies to develop their reserves.

The white house confirmed they have been communicating with the VP of Venezuela.

  4. Remember that time we bombed and overthrew a foreign government as a gift to our oil exec buddies?

  5. I feel like the oil companies are largely going to be attending this just to blow sunshine up Trump’s ass, tell him he’s doing great, and get some sweet subsidies and other goodies elsewhere.

Investing in drilling in Venezuela is going to be *cataclysmically* risky and they probably know that.

  6. Raspberries-Are-Evil on

They have already indicated they are not going to invest tens of billions to repair the infrastructure to make drilling worth while. They did that once, and when the government changed, they tore up the contracts. So that means Trump will use OUR money to do it, and Republicans in Congress will allow it.

I hope they publicly express their unwillingness to take Trump’s word on any of this.

  7. i don’t think the oil companies would be too happy at the prospect of spending billions to set up that they’d constantly have to have guarded, and if the democrats or another republican ever pulled troops out that shit would never last

they’d need assurances which no one can give because it’s on foreign soil

you’d have to spend so much money on patrols and stuff to deal with attacks especially if you stir the hornets nest of cartels and stuff

it honestly feels like such a stupid plan, you’d have to commit so much money and manpower and it’d take so long to even break even, and you’d constantly be under threat of losing literally all of it

china and russia also already have influence themselves over there so they’d constantly be trying to stir shit up with their own people

it just sounds like a terrible plan lol

  8. If he thinks oil companies want anything to do with Venezuela, he’s in for a rude surprise. Probably a bunch of suits silently nodding their heads, then noping the fuck out of there

Put the cart in front of the horse there didn’t he. That Wharton business degree is paying dividends here.

It’s simply amazing how much the Republicans are able to get away with. They are held to absolutely no standards and no accountability.

  11. If Biden did this he would have been impeached and removed from office. This is getting ridiculous.

  12. pithynotpithy on

I know America has bowed to oil companies for decades but to see it happen so blatantly is still weird

  13. Professional-Story43 on

How much is Adolph Trump charging oil companies, under the desk of course, to bid on oil they MIGHT get access to in Venezuela? 5, 10, 20 million per company? With steady payments and perks down the line?

  14. Select_Insurance2000 on

Big Oil execs say that Trump hasn’t spoken with any of them about Venezuela…..so Trump lied again.
    Shocker.

Even if they began today, it would be over a decade or more to rebuild and begin drilling and extracting their oil and the cost would be billions of dollars.

  15. Adventurous-Jump-370 on

I would be very surprised if any oil company wants to invest in this. Even if you think the economics stack up and the locals aren’t going to make it all but impossible to make a profit from this, you have to factor that the next American administration is likely going to reverse every decision they can on this.

  16. Hold the phones. He said this was not going to cost taxpayers any money. He said that several times.

    >**Trump says US may subsidize oil firms to rebuild infrastructure**

Why do I think this point is going to be omitted in every follow-up discussion?

  17. Nuts how openly corrupt he is, how he isn’t even trying to hide that this was all about oil. And how Cletus and Jim Bob are still stupid enough to believe he serves them.

  18. The country they don’t own because they left no occupation force?

Who’s supposed to protect the oil companies when they start drilling?

There’s some crucial, basic, muther fucking imperial shit these jackasses haven’t done. (No I’m not in favor of this I’m just in disbelief at how bad they are at everything)

  19. DolphinsBreath on

    >**Trump told NBC News the U.S. may subsidize oil companies to enable them to rebuild Venezuela’s energy infrastructure.**

    There it begins.

  20. Unfortunately, this is what’s happening. That being said the Venezuelans can rise up for what they believe. This may be their only opportunity for many years. They may be fucked by Trump but come mid terms a lot of that could change.

  21. First he gets away with pedophila and protecting sex traffickers. Now he’s involving the US in foreign affairs for oil.

MAGA 2016: “Let’s put a billionaire with no experience in government into office! What could possibly go wrong?”

This is what happens when you put a billionaire with no experience in government into office. This is what goes wrong.

  22. Am I wrong, or is the administration wildly jumping the gun on a lot of their statements about Venezuela? Like, yeah, they have Maduro, but they have yet to actually take the country. Unless Venezuela surrendered and I just didn’t hear about it.

  23. If Dems ever take over there is going to have to be severe legal consequences for the companies.

  24. Affectionate_Reply78 on

I wonder what the entry fee, I mean bribe, will be. Or maybe just the Exxon Peace Prize will be enough.

  25. tanaephis77400 on

Well, I hope the MAGA crowd is ok with their next generation of kids coming back with PTSD and missing limbs. Because that’s exactly what’s gonna happen if they try to really go through with this.

Oh, who am I kidding. They’ll just keep on “thank you for your service” -ing traumatized vets while filling the tank of their giant trucks.
