Who will represent Montenegro at the European Championship in Belgrade was already certain after the last test match against Croatia, and now it is official.

The coach of our water polo team, Dejan Savić, announced the list of 15 players who will compete at the Old Continent Championship hosted by the “Belgrade Arena”.

The tournament, which the “Sharks” open on Saturday with a match against Malta, will feature Petar Tešanović, Dmitrij Holod, Jovan Vujović, Marko Mršić, Aljoša Macić, Vlado Popadić, Strahinja Gojković, Balša Vučković, Miroslav Perković, Vladan Spaić, Dušan Matković, Vasilije Radović, Darko Đurović, Danilo Stupar and Srđan Janović.

This will be the youngest Montenegrin team at major competitions with an average age of 23,86, and Srđan Janović, Danilo Stupar and goalkeeper Darko Đurović will make their debut at major competitions.

The last filter of players who completed the preparations did not pass Đuro Radović, Dušan Banićević and Lazar Andrić, players who played at the World Championship last summer in Singapore.

In relation to that competition, Sava Ćetković, Dimitrij Obradović and Filip Gardašević will also not be present in Belgrade.

The “Sharks”‘ rivals in the Euro group will be Malta, Hungary and France.

The European Championship in Belgrade will last from January 10th to 25th, and compared to previous tournaments, the competition system has been changed.

Thus, the best three teams from the group in which Montenegro is, together with three from Group C (Spain, Israel, Serbia, Netherlands), will form a new Group E, from which the two first-placed teams will advance to the semi-finals.

Since regaining independence, the Montenegrin water polo team has not missed a single major competition (IOC, World Cup, European Championship), and the tournament in the Serbian capital will be the 25th in total that they will appear at.
