  1. Colombia’s president needs to shut up right about now…

Although “seized within”… how many of those is Venezuela seizing within their country?? I’m going to assume 0

  2. Heh, you left out Greenland and Cuba. Obvious sites of Narco-Terrorist activities. /s

  3. I’m not arguing either way but seizures is not a good metric for production.

I assume this is the data source [https://insightcrime.org/news/insight-crimes-2024-cocaine-seizure-round-up/](https://insightcrime.org/news/insight-crimes-2024-cocaine-seizure-round-up/) if you look at Bolivia I doubt the cocaine production doubled between 2023 and 2024 it’s that someone got better at seizing it.

    >**Sources and Methodology**

    >*As part of our daily monitoring, InSight Crime looks for reports of any cocaine seizures above 50 kilograms. We examine each report and try to find the route the cocaine took, methods used to traffic the drug, and where it originally came from.*

  4. Isn’t this a survivorship bias thing? If they aren’t seizing any, it doesn’t mean none is being produced/trafficked.

At this point, one can safely assume that any claim by the American government of an urgent security threat posed by another nation is an extreme exaggeration at best and an outright fabrication at worst. Several months ago they were accusing Canada of being responsible for trafficking fentanyl into the US despite the facts that the vast majority of it comes from Mexico ([something like 97% of all fentanyl seized](https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/fentanyl-seizures-up-czar-1.7577702)) and, more importantly, that the majority of fentanyl trafficked across the northern border is going to Canada *from the US*. These sorts of facts don’t matter, of course, because these claims are simply a flimsy pretext for aggression that embarrassingly convinces a large segment of American opinion who will uncritically accept almost anything the Trump administration tells them.

  6. Does this matter? Cocaine was a bullshit Casus Belli anyway. He pardoned Hernandez who was allegedly responsible for flooding the US with drugs.

  7. Didn’t he initially say the boats had went on them? No we we’re talking about cocaine? ~sigh~
But it’s really about the oil. They said as much. And I guess it’s been in the works. Same thing with what’s coming for Cuba IG…
