  1. I propose a lottery system – even numbers will fight the Americans and odd the Russians.

This is escalating way too fast. It’s surreal. It feels like I’ll go to sleep and, seven hours later when I wake up, some shit will have gone down

It’s a dangerously irresponsible game to play. This will only embolden countries to further bully smaller nations. While coercion in international politics already exists through economic power and other means, using military force to coerce a smaller, weaker country like Denmark is absolutely horrific

  3. If you’d have told me 3 years ago that WW3 would be the NATO vs USA vs Russia vs China (alliances TBD) I would’ve called you insane

    What is this timeline

The irony is this makes it even more likely that Greenland with withdraw from the treaty that allows the US unrestricted access for military purposes.

Its a huge win for russia, and jeopardises the security of the western world.

  5. Remember when Trump first talked about annexing Greenland last year people were saying “its just Trump being Trump, he says a lot of crazy stuff just for the headlines and attention”

Well now we are at a stage where it’s quickly becoming reality

I feel like I’m living in 1938 Europe right now

  6. Never thought i would read a headline like this. How is the US public fine with such statements?

Now would probably be a good time to send in some European/Canadian troops to Greenland, and naval assets

It’s hard to believe, but is China friendlier these days?

It would be nice if America spoke up, because at least half of the country feels like silent and frozen.

Kick the American troops out of Europe.

    Don’t deal with the dishonourable.

  10. I don’t understand how Americans are ok with that. Did America become such a shithole? Almost half of them support Trump. The truth is you cannot trust them anymore, it’s getting in the same direction as Germany with Hitler

  11. I am an American living in Copenhagen. I have never been so embarrassed/ashamed to be American.

  12. if europe remained silent it would be his death, there is not going back, no matter who would be the next president of USA, Europe can’t be dependent of USA, not anymore, so it’s time to take a decision, die or change

  13. Get the tripwire in place! Just 1,000 allied soldiers from several NATO and EU countries (especially the big ones) would be an enormous deterrent. If something happens to them, we wake up in a different world.

  14. The world needs to prepare its response as America turns to psychotic foreign policies.
Very war rampant rogue dictatorship that America.

  15. Now I’m not saying we should be be preparing to intern all American servicemen on European soil the moment the US takes overt hostile actions against us, but I’m hoping someone is looking into the logistics of such a plan, at the very least.

Gives us some leverage we can use.

Apparently the vast majority of NATO arctic warfare troops are from the Nordics, the U.K. and Canada and not the US. So if Trump wants his big show he will need to wait until July to even get onshore. Then if Denmark decides to be salty they can turn the whole episode into a nightmare. I doubt Trump will follow through with this and if he does Europe won’t go to war. However it would destroy the Atlantic alliance. As a power with global pretensions America will lose access to forward deployment capability. And when the US finds itself in need of allies it will find it no longer has them.

  17. US will never recover for this shit they do. That orange moron is destroying years of bilateral relations and ruining ever fucking life just because he is greedy.

How the hell no one in that country is saying anything and lets him do anything he wants as if the world is in his backyard?

  18. Legit scared for my country of Canada if they acquire Greenland. Then we’re surrounded by America from 3 sides. And Russia from the North.

    F.

So what happens if they do this and then once NATO commits troops to defend Greenland and suddenly Putin makes a push for several places?

Because that is the plan right?

  20. ReindeerIsHereToFuck on

We really need to band together here. If we let him get away with this, it won’t stop and will be a point of mockery for us. I dont know what the answer is, but im willing to sacrifice a lot for my way of life and Greenland.

  21. Trump is doing everything to provoke some kind of response from NATO to have a justification to withdraw from NATO. More specifically: He wants to claim that congress has no say in the withdrawal form NATO because it’s an emergency situation. Such a weak Russian asset

  22. Remember when people say, how did the Germans let the nazi’s take over? You are seeing it happen.

  23. USA, if you believe this isn’t your president, fucking prove it to us already. Where is the intolerance for hatred that you had during George Floyd protests?

  24. Trump wants to leave NaTO, congress rules will not allow so he’s best option is NATO leaving him. It’s not you, it’s me type of global politics.

  25. America knows nobody else is going to stop them, not even Denmark. They might even expect us to bend over further and buy more equipment from them in an attempt to get them to stop.

Thing is, if Trump takes Greenland without repercussion, he will just be emboldened to take more. Whats stopping him from taking European islands in the Caribbean, the Falklands, or maybe the Canary Islands or the Azores and if he gets them, what’s stopping him from going directly for Europe, say Ireland? I doubt he will do it but then again just a couple of months ago, I and many others doubted he was serious about taking Greenland.

I know Europe’s options are somewhat limited but we have to do everything we can now to try and put enough pressure on the US government or the American people to get Trump to back down. Attacking Venezuela for resources is already an overstep of US power but attacking a NATO ally is a step too far to just roll over. It’s now or never.

  26. DoTheRainbowDash on

Correction. “United States openly threatens military invasion of NATO Ally.”

  27. Denmark had the 3rd or 4th highest number of combat deaths per head of population in the war in Afghanistan. A war stated by the USA, due to an attack on US soil. I think they only rank one behind the US itself in that stat… and yet here we are, only 4 years later and the yanks are threatening their old partner… scum innit.

  28. The US is surpassing Russia now at the most despised country in the world. Definitely in Europe this is the case.

  29. If Trump goes further with this EU countries should seriously consider boycotting this years world cup and the LA olympics 2028. That would kill his ego if anything.

  30. Remember, the majority of Americans either voted for this or just don’t care. Absolutely sickening to see what has happened to a country I once greatly admired.
