Apparently the vast majority of NATO arctic warfare troops are from the Nordics, the U.K. and Canada and not the US. So if Trump wants his big show he will need to wait until July to even get onshore. Then if Denmark decides to be salty they can turn the whole episode into a nightmare. I doubt Trump will follow through with this and if he does Europe won’t go to war. However it would destroy the Atlantic alliance. As a power with global pretensions America will lose access to forward deployment capability. And when the US finds itself in need of allies it will find it no longer has them.

America knows nobody else is going to stop them, not even Denmark. They might even expect us to bend over further and buy more equipment from them in an attempt to get them to stop.
Thing is, if Trump takes Greenland without repercussion, he will just be emboldened to take more. Whats stopping him from taking European islands in the Caribbean, the Falklands, or maybe the Canary Islands or the Azores and if he gets them, what’s stopping him from going directly for Europe, say Ireland? I doubt he will do it but then again just a couple of months ago, I and many others doubted he was serious about taking Greenland.
I know Europe’s options are somewhat limited but we have to do everything we can now to try and put enough pressure on the US government or the American people to get Trump to back down. Attacking Venezuela for resources is already an overstep of US power but attacking a NATO ally is a step too far to just roll over. It’s now or never.

Denmark had the 3rd or 4th highest number of combat deaths per head of population in the war in Afghanistan. A war stated by the USA, due to an attack on US soil.
