LTG Infra, the infrastructure company of the LTG Group responsible for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania, has announced an open international tender for design services for the northernmost railway section from the city of Panevėžys to the Lithuanian-Latvian border. The total length of this section is approximately 54 kilometres.
In 2025, LTG Infra signed contracts for the construction of the 114-kilometer section from Kaunas to Panevėžys. Preparatory and construction works are already underway on this section, including the construction of the railway superstructure on the most technically advanced nine-kilometer section. At the same time, design work is also underway on the section between the Lithuanian-Polish border and Kaunas, where almost 100 kilometers of railway are planned to be modernized.
“LTG Group has been entrusted with ensuring the effective and smooth implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania. This project is a strategic priority for both Lithuania and the entire Baltic region. The European standard gauge railway line from Panevėžys to the Latvian border will significantly strengthen regional transport connections, improve connectivity with Western Europe, increase strategic resilience and promote economic cooperation,” said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Roderiks Žiobaks .
