Many europeans here still harbor this illusion that American is an “ally” and “friend”. Many forget that US is an empire, any so called “allies” are disposable asset to further American interest. Europeans seem to be in denial about the US. They talk about Putin, Russia, Epstein scandals, but they never acknowledge their own responsibility for handing the US control over their foreign policy and security.
They also don’t want to make new trade partners (like the Mercosur deal) unless the terms are 100% in their favor.
Im not happy about greenland situation but it’s hard to ignore that Europe is now getting a taste of what U.S. power has felt like to others for a long time.

I love how europeans are only just now realising that the USA is not an ally. News flash: it never has been. It’s not tied to any president, the US has only ever acted in its own self interest, and more often than not that has been to the detriment of Europe. They were warned along the way that this was the case but everything was dismissed as anti-western propaganda when in fact the real brainwashing and propaganda came from the US, and has been so effective that for decades europeans even embraced the US with open arms and swallowed every narrative they were fed. Now Europe is an irrelevant entity, at the mercy of global superpowers who use European geopolitics as pawns on a chessboard.

Yep us Europeans need to come together now more than ever. I never wanted us (UK) to leave the EU and I hope if anything good comes out of all this we will get back to being close with our fellow Europeans. Putin and Trump are trying to tear our continent apart and we need to stick together. Not forgetting Canada and others outside of Europe that have realised the US can’t be trusted.
