BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 7. Azerbaijan and the
Saudi Arabian ACWA Power company discussed electricity generation
and transmission, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of
Energy.
The discussion was held during a meeting between the Energy
Minister Parviz Shahbazov and the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of ACWA Power Mohammad Abunayyan.
The meeting underscored ACWA Power’s pivotal role as a key
partner in Azerbaijan’s energy sector, highlighting that this
collaboration exemplifies the strong and fraternal relations
between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia. The strategic significance of
joint projects, including the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power
Plant and various desalination initiatives, was emphasized.
Attention was given to the successful completion of the wind power
plant’s construction and its integration into the national grid, as
well as the collaborative efforts that facilitated this
achievement.
Furthermore, the discussion extended to the progress of
electricity interconnector projects along the Black Sea, Europe,
Central Asia, and Nakhchivan routes. The development and
transmission of green energy between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan,
Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia were also explored, with an assessment
of the potential for expanded cooperation not only in electricity
generation but also in its transmission.
