According to leading aviation data platform OAG’s latest report, Canada’s Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) route took the top spot, with 3,655,423 scheduled seats, beating out the top U.S. route, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which boasted 3,431,159 scheduled seats.

And the result wasn’t a one-off. In 2024, the YVR to YYZ route once again took North America’s top spot, with 3,498,835 scheduled seats, topping the U.S.’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) route, which boasted 3,474,713 scheduled seats.
While the Canadian route may have earned bragging rights in the North American market in 2025, its accomplishment is overshadowed when compared with the world’s top domestic routes for the year. South Korea’s Jeju International Airport (CJU) to Gimpo International Airport (GMP) route took the top spot, recording 14,384,766 scheduled seats in 2025. The second and third busiest domestic routes were both in Japan: Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS) to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND), with 12,099,499 seats, and Fukuoka Airport (FUK) to HND, which boasted 11,496,706 seats.
The top cross-border airline route for 2025 was Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), which saw 6,832,683 scheduled seats.
OAG’s annual busiest routes report is determined by collating data from the company’s monthly Busiest Routes Right Now reports. Data is for flights in both directions on each route.
