I get why the pub may have done this for financial reasons but I am sad for the loss. Part of what makes my local pub is the pool competition nights or having a bit of a fun comp with your mates after a few.
Hope they bring them back for you in some capacity.

That isn’t enshitification. They find tables are more in demand than pool tables relative to the cost/what people are willing to pay.

Pub was sold last year to Universal group.
Used to work there, as have many with how the old owners cycled through staff and the pool tables were always a massive problem.
Whilst many of the clientele that loved the tables were great, especially during the day. At night it caused a giant headache for a venue without security. Lots of antisocial behaviour, groups of Working Holiday types who’d barely spend a dime on the bar, but somehow be absolutely wasted and cause chaos, sexually harass staff and otherwise be the worst of humanity. It was always the pool table groups we couldn’t get to leave at the end of the night, or have to RSA etc.
Glad they’re gone honestly, even though I don’t work there anymore.
