A new record: Ukrainian soldier “Miguel” from the 1020th air defense regiment shot down 24 Russian Shaheds in a single night shift using STING interceptors. The feat was confirmed by the Wild Hornets Company.

That’s incredible! Just to set up the controller with a new drone, get it airborne, spot a drone and kill it.. I would say that’s at least 30 minutes. So 24 drones, that’s an efficient 12 hour shift.

Does anyone know if these STING interceptors are purely kinetic or do they contain explosives as well? There doesn’t seem to be much info at the moment, maybe that’s a deliberate thing?

Sting is the next revolution in drone warfare. Russia has nothing but the tech they got from Iran maybe with some questionable improvements added. While Ukraine is doing their best to stop the terror with ever improving systems.

Sting costs about $2k (iirc). Somewhere between 1/15th and 1/50th the cost of a Shahed, depending on the Shahed model.
With enough stings, Ukraine could make ongoing Shahed attacks largely ineffective. Though Russian commanders may continue send them, if only to satisfy the Kremlin’s need for massive drone attacks.
If so? Good. Let Russia spend their limited resources on a mostly worthless weapon system.

in some of these shots it looks liek there is a drone trying to drop something onto the shaheds. I thought the shaheds were the one dropping but the object seemed to come from above the shahed. Nice shooting! slava Ukraini

I have to guess these have proximity or remotely commanded warheads, as direct hits didn’t seem to be sure in some of these. Those would be great additions, if not already in place.

In October I met a Finnish kid in Kyiv who was on his way to do drone training. I’m gonna pretend he is Miguel.

You’d think by like the tenth one the orcs would stop sending them that way but can’t say I’m all that surprised either
