    > After the alleged incident, Mr Naidu was detained under the Mental Health Act and following a medical evaluation, he was released from James Connolly Memorial Hospital back into garda custody.
The garda said Mr Naidu had “profound mental health issues” and had been sectioned under the Act twice last year but was released on each occasion.
Gda Reardon said there were “great concerns for members of the public” if the accused was granted bail.

Why was he released from the psych hold if he posed a threat to the public and had profound mental health issues?

Ok, I’ll say the controversial, inflammatory thing. This lad was obviously in a bad way, knew it on some level, and at least went to the garda station. If he was intent on harm, he would have done it.

  3. Thankfully, the Garda were able to deal with this dangerous man in a non-lethal way, but I hope all the other services can keep the general public safe from him going forward.

So if i was to I do this and say I want to stab black men I’m racist, he does it and its mental health?

Arming yourself with four knives is not a very cleaver idea..he’s not the sharpest..

It’s odd how everyone is so focused in the “harm Caucasians” thing.

He’s been psych evaluated before, and in a manic episode, he managed to get himself to a Garda station and into custody. Once the situation got resolved by the armed lads, they agreed this man is clearly just extremely unwell mentally and clearly experiencing a form of mania.

It’s always about supporting those with mental health issues, until it’s an easy target to poke at for culture points.

It’s a fucking miracle he didn’t cause severe harm to multiple people, and I hope he gets whatever medication or care he needs moving forward.

Or I can hope he gets deported for bringing up white people I suppose. It could be easier to ignore every other piece of context involved in the story.

He can be sectioned maybe by the medical doctor called by gardai. I think 2 doctors are needed for an involuntary admission.

  8. He came to Ireland at the age of 4, it doesn’t say from where, but there’s a good chance he was exposed to some traumatic situations when he was young (apparently kids are most vulnerable below 6). Practically speaking even though we’re already massively behind, if we’re going to integrate people from some of these countries we’re probably going to need to throw a lot of mental health services (eg I do wonder for Ukrainians whats the long term consequences of thousand of young kids in the country who’ve escaped a war zone)

  9. I saw someone on twitter implying that the garda were racist for letting this guy live but fornshooting George Nkecho.

This was before it was released who this guy was.
