The Serbian Directorate for Commodity Reserves has put four oil storage tanks in Smederevo into trial operation and is filling them with 67,000 tonnes of Euro diesel to strengthen the supply of petroleum products.
The remaining two tanks expect technical acceptance in the coming weeks. Once authorities issue all permits, the country will be able to store an additional 35,000 tonnes of gasoline, bringing total capacity at the site to 102,000 tonnes.
Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović emphasised that Serbia plans to continue strengthening energy security and expanding strategic reserves. She also reminded that storage capacity proved crucial during the NIS crisis, when almost no crude oil entered the country for nearly three months.
