Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi, who is in Yerevan for Armenia–Iran political consultations.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Iran. Both officials emphasized the existing political agreement to elevate relations to a strategic level and reviewed ongoing efforts in that direction.
Mirzoyan stressed the importance Armenia attaches to its relations with neighboring Iran, describing them as strategically significant. He noted that it is no coincidence that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have agreed to officially raise bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership within the current year.
The Armenian and Iranian officials also exchanged views on issues related to the unblocking of regional infrastructure. Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia’s clear position that any unblocking process must take place strictly within the framework of fundamental principles. The discussion also touched upon programs being developed in this area and the opportunities they could create.
