The United States Embassy in Tirana continues to monitor flooding across the country and urges all American citizens to exercise caution in areas at risk of flooding, which is worsening.
Several areas across the country are under evacuation orders. A post on the embassy’s official website said that flooding can occur without warning, while heavy rains could cause road closures due to flash floods or landslides.
The embassy suggests that American citizens in Albania who need assistance should avoid affected areas and call emergency numbers.
“US citizens should avoid affected areas, especially those under evacuation orders, and follow police instructions regarding road closures or traffic disruptions. Monitor local news for updates on flood conditions and plan your routes accordingly. Google Maps can also provide real-time information on road closures and flooding.”
Do not attempt to drive through flood-affected areas. Seek an alternate route or consider postponing your trip if an alternate route is not available.
We strongly encourage U.S. citizens in affected areas who are safe to monitor local news and contact their loved ones directly and/or update their status on social media.
If you have an immediate or life-threatening emergency, please call 127 for an ambulance, 112 for the police or 128 for the fire department. You can also contact the National Emergency at info@urgjenca.gov.al ( http://urgjenca.gov.al/ )”, the American embassy announces. /A2 CNN
