Latvian and world basketball legend Uļjana Semjonova died on Thursday at the age of 73, according to the Latvian Basketball Association. 

The legendary basketball player was a two-time Olympic champion, three-time world champion, ten-time European champion, eleven-time European Cup winner, and a member of the FIBA, World Basketball and World Women’s Basketball Halls of Fame. 

In 1993, Uļjana Semjonova became the first European basketball player to be inducted into the World Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, USA. In 1999, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, USA and in 2007, she was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame. 

After retiring from her athletic career, Semjonova established and ran the Latvian Olympic Social Fund for many years, organizing various types of assistance for sports veterans.
