Monopoly is a game where the whole point is to buy property and bankrupt people through ever-increasing rent. It’s an edition that is made for my suburb, so that way it feels even more real! I swear real estate agents don’t think about things for more than 15 seconds.

  1. Underlying sentiment of the game itself aside, this is one of the best personalised corporate gifts I’ve seen

  2. The real estate agent is just giving you fair warning of how this lease is going to be handled. No surprises here, you’re definitely going to be bankrupt and/or sent to jail.

  3. He’s giving you the heads up to expect an immediate rent increase when the lease expires…

Was he meant to give it to your landlord to congratulate them on having a new tenant lol

Okay implications aside this is kind of adorable, it’s like if they got someone to paint a painting of your house. I wonder how many different editions that they have?

Ask the RE agent if the owner has a mortgage, because if so he can’t collect rent.

  7. Now you cant say you’re surprised when they kick you out in 3 months so they can knock down and build a hotel.

We got given this by the RE after buying our first house.
Have seen many of these at Savers and other Oppy’s.

  9. I got the same edition (despite not living in Moreland) when I bought a house from Nelson Alexander. You got lucky!

  10. I mean real estate agents are not often REAs becuase of their tact, moral values or intelligence.

    damn, you lucked out.

When I bought a house in Darebin all I got from nelson alexander was a coffee table book of all the houses they’d sold and a calendar with the agent’s smug punchable face all over it.

Fun fact: monopoly itself was stolen from Elizabeth Magie who invented (and patented) *The Landlord’s Game*. The Landlord’s Game was even more critical of monopolies and advocated for a land tax as a way to redistribute wealth more equally.

Magie also advocated for womens rights and the rights of black people in the US. Somewhat ironic then that a man stole her idea, passed it off as his own and became massively successful from it.

How could anyone be offended or upset about this? It’s a cool gift, stop finding things to be unhappy about.

Are you sure they didnt think this through? If anything, they were probably being incredibly honest.

Having said that, this is a really good gift. Hahaha.

  15. When my dad closed on his house he got one from his real estate company too, personalised for our rural town. Hasbro really will whore this franchise out to anyone willing to pay the licencing fee.

  16. Seen real estate post on Facebook about how they sold a house congratulating themselves. Must be one of the only professions where they post their bullshit pat on the back online.
