Albanian police have arrested a 46-year-old Turkish national and seized large quantities of counterfeit clothing and footwear during an operation targeting trademark violations in the town of Kamza, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as Ozkan Sulun, was arrested on Saturday, as part of a police operation codenamed “Brands 2,” after officers discovered a warehouse where smuggled garments were being stamped with fake logos of well-known international brands.
Police said another Turkish national, 50-year-old Mehmet Karciga, has been declared wanted in connection with the case, while three female employees were placed under investigation but remain free.
During the operation, officers seized large amounts of clothing and shoes, laser and printing machines used for logo stamping, counterfeit brand labels, a mobile phone, and other materials believed to be linked to the illegal activity.
Authorities said the goods are suspected to have evaded customs duties. The operation was carried out by the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Sector, with support from local police and special forces units.
Search efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the second suspect. Procedural materials have been forwarded to the Tirana prosecution for further legal action on charges including trademark infringement, smuggling, illegal employment and document forgery.
