Will there be any consequences for our minister for blatantly lying to the public?

If it had gone down well with people, he’d have been all over it. Just goes to show that many in power are more preoccupied with image than actually solving problems.

There must be no intelligence, thinking that something so tone deaf would ever be acceptable. I’m surprised at Spun Out as well

Ok who?
Most senior officials tend to be in the public eye. Everyone from a principal officer upwards is listed on government websites. Is this a chairman, secretary general, an A. Sec or a Po. Whoever that official is is likely below
This video was the result of siloed thinking and isolation from external reality. It’s a real challenge for departments as they don’t even recognise their own blind spots.
There is no easy fix either because the solution is to broaden consultation for every decision which effectively stops decision making

The level of incompetence of a manager who claims to or even worse does not know what comes out of their department says it all to me. They are not fit for the job

Is there ever actually any consequences for civil servants being shite at their jobs?

The shortsighted thinkers that voted them in will be doing exactly the same again next time.

I don’t understand. Was the video not an attempt to give advice for a real problem that faces so many – irrespective of the cause?
I understand people being rightfully angry that the problem is actually there due to a failure of government policy but should the departments not work with the reality of the situations rather than be limited by the Minister/Government that happen to be in power at that moment in time.

The people who made the decisions are not the people affected the same way – so many upper middle class and above who are clueless to what is happening and it’s just poor people struggling because they are misspending their money

Cant we just speed things up and ban anyone under the age of 45 from owning a house? maybe a law for a mandatory minimum rent of €3000 a month?
Maybe a 600 euro a month ‘Single Parent’ tax? along with a 600 euro “Parent Pair” tax?
We need to make life as hard as possible for ordinary people if we want this country to collapse /s
