Prime Minister Albin Kurti participated today in the solemn academy organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of Monsignor Nikë Prela and the 20th anniversary of the death of Monsignor Mark Sopi. The academy was held at the Bogdanipolis center, near the Cathedral in Pristina.

Commemorating the life and work of these two important personalities, Prime Minister Kurti said that Bishop Prela and Bishop Sopi were not only religious leaders, but also bearers of high public ethics, representatives of rare civic morality and witnesses of a difficult time for the people of Kosovo.

He emphasized that in the dark period of repression and oppression, they understood that their mission could not be limited to religious service alone, but required moral responsibility, civic courage, and active commitment to the defense of human dignity, justice, and freedom.

According to the Prime Minister, Monsignor Nikë Prela and Monsignor Mark Sopi became bridges between spirituality and citizenship, between religious belief and social and state responsibility, playing an important role in national awareness and Kosovo’s connection with the democratic world.

Kurti assessed that Kosovo’s current freedom and independence, in addition to political and diplomatic processes, are also the fruit of the moral resistance of figures who, in dangerous circumstances, refused to accept injustice as normality.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and on his own behalf, Prime Minister Kurti expressed deep gratitude for the work and legacy of Monsignor Nikë Prela and Monsignor Mark Sopi, emphasizing that this legacy remains a guide for society and future generations.
