Alternate designs for Melbourne Central Shopping Centre. Are any of them better than what we ended up with?

The open one with all the greenery (4th image) would have been pretty nice, though the rain and wind would be an issue. I think the one we got is pretty good though, it’s nothing too over the top and it doesn’t feel dated, unlike how the 2nd design might be if it was built and around today.

The original arrangement where the escalators to the train station were at the corner of Swanston and Latrobe streets was better than what we have now.

Back then you didn’t need to enter the shopping centre to catch the train. I can’t recall when they changed it.

Is that an ice skating rink in drawing 6? If so I am bummed we passed on that idea

Retaining the shot tower with the glass spire was good. It was better when Daimaru was there. I visit Daimaru now when I go to Osaka a couple of times a year.

The renovation is very dark. I don’t know if they were going for a laneway vibe downstairs but it doesn’t really work.
