There’s really no need to say this. No one with half a brain cell is going to recognise Trump as a Nobel peace prize winner just because Machado handed over the medal. It would be like me claiming to have won Best Actor just because Meryl Streep gave me one of her Oscars.

Trump, for years, famously had a framed picture of himself as Time’s Man of the Year (photoshopped, of course). He won’t care that he didn’t win the prize- he just wants something shiny to look at and show off.

This only emphasizes what we’ve known about Trump all along. That he’s a petty and vindictive, extremely vain and malignant narcissist whose only concern is with his image, his ratings, his wealth and popularity.
A deranged, pathological blowhard who can’t handle the slightest discourtesy or criticism, who can’t cope with any measure of humiliation, embarrassment or defeat, which is why every competition or election that he’s ever lost has been accused of being “rigged” against him.
And now he’s using his leverage over a country he just invaded for oil in order to extort his way into securing a participation trophy from an opposition leader whose chance at power depends on whether or not she’s willing to “share” an award with Trump that he never came close to earning.
The very fate of the Venezuelan people hinges on Trump’s narcissism and his insecurities over failing to win a prize that he didn’t deserve in the first place. Holy shit…
Trump is so self-serving and attention seeking that every action he takes starts with one fundamental question, “how does this benefit me?”
His new appetite for expansionism and his foreign policy is just an extension of his ego. His own self-worth is all that matters to him. He has no consideration for the consequences of his actions unless the outcome favors him in some way. How this all plays out is contingent on what he can individually, politically, or financially gain from it.
And it’s so fucked up that the futures of everyone involved in this conflict and the conflicts to come rests on how Donald Trump is personally impacted by the final results.
This also cannot go without bringing up the fact that Trump has already bombed a record breaking number of countries within his first year back in office. And now he’s threatening to do the same to other nations and/or territories that don’t toe whatever line he draws in the sand.
These extrajudicial murders, bombings and military incursions were never about drugs or “liberating the people of Venezuela.”
This was always about justifying military escalation, foreign conflict and regime change for the sake of oil.
This whole imperialist pursuit is a launching point for broader US military involvement in countries or territories that don’t submit to Trump’s deranged and narcissistic whims. A move that empowers Trump to attack and/or ensnare any foreign state he deems a threat or a strategic boon to the US.
It shouldnt be difficult to acknowledge the flagrant hypocrisy of someone clamoring for a participation trophy for his pretend “peacemaking” efforts while he commits crimes against humanity without justification, and while he reshapes US foreign policy into a projection of his own ego and converts his base into staunch advocates of US imperialism.
This also doesn’t begin to address Trump’s avid militarism at home either.
The hypocrisy is baffling. While Trump and his supporters are demanding that he receive a Nobel Peace Prize for his feckless efforts at ending multiple wars (which he hasn’t) and “negotiating” an imaginary peace around the world, he is simultaneously waging war against the American people, people he is tasked with protecting.
Why is she allowed to maintain it now? No integrity. Rescind the award.

If anything, they should rescind it. Any person willing to give away their Nobel Prize to someone else just for the chance to be installed as a puppet of another state should not be the winner.
