Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha accused Prime Minister Edi Rama on social media of attacking the justice system in order to protect his own interests and those of his close associates.

Berisha said that while hundreds of citizens from southern Gjirokastra to northern Shkodra are suffering the consequences of floods, Rama failed to address their situation, arguing that the prime minister and his ministers are responsible for the alleged misuse of funds intended for protective infrastructure.

He also claimed that Rama is being held hostage by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, whom he referred to as “the Lubi,” and accused the ruling majority of blocking justice and preventing her arrest through its control of parliament.

According to Berisha, Rama’s attacks on prosecutors and judges reflect fear of justice and amount to a call for Albanians to rise up and demand his removal from power as soon as possible.
