Sweden has donated 60 million Swedish kronor (about $6.4 million) to the Afghanistan Special Trust Fund, the fund announced on Sunday.
In a post on X, the Trust Fund thanked Sweden for the contribution, saying the money will help expand essential services and support economic and climate resilience for communities affected by displacement across Afghanistan.
The fund said the donation will be used to assist vulnerable populations, particularly those struggling with the impacts of poverty, climate shocks, and forced displacement.
The contribution comes at a time when United Nations agencies have repeatedly warned of severe funding shortages, limiting their ability to deliver humanitarian assistance and development projects in Afghanistan.
For 2026, the United Nations has appealed for $1.71 billion to support millions of people in Afghanistan who remain in urgent need of food, healthcare, shelter, and basic services.
