We’ve know this for a while. It is interesting to me, try and explain evolutionary gayness to an evolution denier (religious person every time) and it might fry their last remaining brain cell.

The research is crap. Humans are characterized by exclusive homosexual behavior, meaning some individuals prefer members of their own sex only. If the research doesn’t indicate exclusive preferences, it’s very bad.

  3. > He likened same-sex sexual behavior to a “currency” that some primate individuals might employ to better make their way in society, increase opportunities and share resources.

    >“What we see is that when there are social difficulties in a species, then same-sex is a currency to help,” Savolainen said.

    Sounds a bit like prostitution.

  4. You clearly didn’t read the methodology of the study you linked. By citing this, you are nuking your own argument.

The authors explicitly conclude that this behavior evolved in mammals to “mitigate the risks of violent conflict” and “reinforce social hierarchies” in species with high rates of intrasexual aggression.

    > “Our… analyses… suggest that it may play an adaptive role in maintaining social relationships and mitigating conflict.” (Gómez et al., 2023)
    >

From a first-principles evolutionary perspective, this is not evidence of romance; it is a biological mechanism for damage control, a submission and alliance strategy to avoid being killed. You are effectively arguing that homosexuality is a stress response identical to prison dynamics. Massive own goal.

hat’s interesting! As I recall, homonormative behavior has been observed by example through virtually every species ever examined (though I don’t know whether that means “every” or “many”…)… I think the “takeaway” is a positive confirmation that homonormativity is a common, natural occurrence observed ubiquitously throughout.
