A criminal group made up of Albanian nationals has been dismantled by Spanish authorities after targeting luxury homes in the south of the country. The operation was concluded on Monday, during which five people were arrested.
The burglaries were carried out following a surveillance phase, during which the gang closely monitored wealthy residents of the Costa del Sol for several days. After identifying their addresses and daily routines, the group planned and carried out thefts of high-value items. The suspects used masks and wigs to avoid being identified by security cameras.
A further 11 individuals were placed under investigation. Police seized €39,465 in cash, three firearms, ammunition, two stolen luxury vehicles, seven bent licence plates, as well as luxury watches from high-end brands. The value of the seized items is reported to exceed €80,000.
