RALEIGH, N.C. — Several North Carolina universities will not host early voting sites for the midterm primary in March.
The North Carolina Board of Elections voted Tuesday to approve plans backed by Republican majorities in a dozen counties across the state.
The decision fell to the state board.
This was after local boards were unable to reach a unanimous decision on their early voting plans.
That means that for the primary there will not be early voting sites at several universities, including N.C. A&T, UNC-Greensboro, Elon University and Western Carolina University.
The board also voted against allowing Sunday voting in six eastern North Carolina counties where the local boards were unable to reach a decision.
