  1. With states like Florida and Utah having banned fluoridation, others are considering doing the same. When Utah lawmakers passed the nation’s first statewide ban on community water fluoridation in 2025, they included a provision that made it easier for people to obtain fluoride supplements without visiting a dental provider.

This would make fluoride available through individual choice, rather than “mass public dosing,” as a Utah House of Representatives webpage put it — part of the rising rhetoric of skepticism that’s led to rollbacks of water fluoridation, a proven method to reduce tooth decay.

But even as critics point to fluoride supplements as an alternative, many are creating barriers to these same products.

Under U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s oversight, the FDA said it issued notices to four businesses about their ingestible fluoride supplements for children and also put out new guidance for health professionals.

Experts say, alarmist language from high-profile officials is trickling down to the public, leading more people to question whether any form of fluoride is a good idea.

In a statement emailed to ProPublica, an HHS spokesperson argued that fluoride’s “predominant benefit to teeth comes from topical contact with the outside of the teeth, not from ingestion. There is no need, therefore, to ingest fluoride.”

“Make fluoride available through individual choice” so I’ll assume with no other information that the cost reduction of water will be returned to the people to choose what to do with their money? No? So it might not really be about “personal freedom”? Just scoring political points while reducing spend and not reducing taxes?

  3. Are they actively removing the fluoride in areas like Colorado with a naturally fluoridated water?

  4. This better not reach my parents feeds. I already had enough explaining to them that fluoridation of water is NOT BRAINWASHING PEOPLE. O.M.F!G. Fuck Kennedy. Fuck this administration literally brainwashing Canadians over the border, and people who already have distrust in government due to growing up under Chausecu, F U!

Well, this is one of the very few good things coming out of this administration. Putting fluoride into municipal water is illegal, plain and simple, because it is illegal to mass medicate a population without their individual consent unless there is a life threatening pandemic. Dental carries are not a life threatening pandemic. It has always been illegal, and it should be banned nation wide for that reason.

There are numerous alternatives to obtaining fluoride if one wants to do that. Toothpaste and mouthwash are two obvious sources if you want to do that.

  6. the fact republicans even have a base of voters is truly embarrassing. regressive, violent beasts.

There’s people ignoring glaring obvious corruption and overstepping power…. Yet they are told they’re winning on the conspiracies, and how great we are now.

Propaganda works. It is the foundation of what separates us poors.

Drinking fluoride does not allow the floride to make contact with your teeth, you need to topically use fluoride for it to help harden your teeth. Fluoride is a neurotoxin, that is why you are supposed to spit your fluoride toothpaste out, not swallow it.
