YouTube will introduce new parental controls that will enable parents to limit the time their teens spend watching short-form videos, or Shorts.
The platform unveiled the measure, set for launch in the first quarter this year, as part of a set of new parental controls.
With the measure, parents will be able to personally set the time for their children watching Shorts in 15-minute increments.
Parents will also have the option to reduce this limit to zero, allowing Shorts to be switched off entirely when deemed necessary.
Also as part of the new parental controls, parents will also be able to set their children’s “bedtime” times and “before-break” reminders to guarantee youths’ right to sleep and rest.
