While they can be found year-round in bakeries, krafna or krofna, peak in January and February as carnival season kicks off around Croatia.
This year, the official opening of the krafna season has been given a modern and indulgent twist by Zagreb-based bakery Bread Club, which has unveiled a special crème brûlée krafna that has quickly captured public attention.
“Krafna season has begun, and we are opening it with a crème brûlée krafna. A silky, light vanilla cream, a crunchy crust of caramelised brown sugar, and just this once, rolled in sugar. Available in all our locations,” Bread Club announced with a tantalising behind-the-scenes video.
The response has been immediate and enthusiastic, with the announcement receiving a huge number of likes and comments on social media, signalling another seasonal hit for the popular bakery.
