The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, commemorated today the massacre of 45 victims at the Memorial Complex in Račak, stressing that the crime stands as living proof of Serbia’s intent to eradicate the Albanian people.
Following the tribute, Osmani said that the pain of the Račak Massacre remains fresh even after 27 years, while Serbia has yet to be punished for this and other crimes committed in Kosovo. She added that the same policies and mindset persist, including the continued denial of the Račak Massacre.
“On this 27th anniversary of the Račak Massacre, once again we remember all the victims of this horrific crime, which once again demonstrated the exterminationist intent that the genocidal Serbian regime of the time had toward the people of Kosovo. Račak—and the wounds of Račak—still speak, because the pain is just as fresh as it was 27 years ago. The pain is fresh for the families, but it is equally fresh for all the people of Kosovo, because there is still no justice for the crimes committed here and in other parts of the Republic of Kosovo. Even after 27 years, Serbia continues with the same policies and the same mindset, because the denial of crime—such as their denial of the Račak crime—is a double crime,” Osmani said.
