  2. Do Japanese people really think it’s a good idea to beg America to defend them?

    Nukes are horrible but without them you are at the mercy of a rival (China, NK) that have them.

    A nuclear Japan would lead to a nuclear SK and others in Central and SE Asia. I can understand the frustration with the criminal Trump mafia administration trying to extort its allies, but such nuclear proliferation would make everyone less safe in the long run. Also, thus far, the US has explicitly denied SK nuclear weapons capability, even allowing the assassination of past dictator Park Chung-hee, so I am not sure of the feasibility of Japan obtaining nukes even if it decided to go that route.
