Three German nationals are suspected of illegally crossing the state border between Finland and Russia. The incident occurred on January 14 in the Kuusamo district.

    According to border guards, the violation was recorded in the Paljakka forest area. The Kainuu Border Guard patrol spotted three young people on snowshoes near the demarcation line.

    Captain of the Border Guard Juha Romppainen noted that the tourists had been informed about the strict prohibition on entering the border zone, but decided to disregard the rules.

    The Finnish side officially informed the Russian border guards about this incident.

    It should be noted that this is not the only incident in recent times. On the preceding day, border guards also detained a Finnish citizen who attempted to illegally cross into Russia.
