    >With the update that went into effect Tuesday, YouTube videos that dramatize or cover issues including domestic abuse, self-harm, suicide, adult sexual abuse, abortion and sexual harassment without graphic descriptions or imagery are now eligible for full monetization.

That is actually really good news… why is youtube doing something good?

  2. Honestly, any video that isn’t age restricted should be eligible for monetization. If advertisers don’t like it, they can just fuck off.

  3. Imo a little late. Most of my favorite content creators have either moved on to new platforms, retired (conceded really), or change formats to unappealing “safe” things and faded to obscurity.

  4. I feel like this is going to mostly benefit one side’s controversial content more than the other…

They took down 700 videos from Palestinian right groups two months ago. “Controversial” content was always allowed, but only if you push their agenda.

  6. What I think they mean by “controversial”: lots of swears and adult humour.

What they actually mean: hate speech with a little sunshine and flowers to take the edge off.

Does this mean we can cool it with the lame ahh puhhy bihhh self-censoring on these videos and content?

  8. Great! Now I can watch a “the hoof GP” video without it sounding like a r-rated movie on TBS in the 90’s!!

  9. I mean it was pretty dumb that it had stricter rules than TV/Cable but isn’t there an issue happening with creator’s channels suddenly getting massive drops in views right now?
