How do you sanction the largest economy, the reserve currency, or a consumption based economy?
I feel the only thing you can do is to stop trading with the US, but that would most likely hurt the sanctioning economy more than the US as it would probably lead to a local recession and/or increased unemployment.

aren’t they technically already sanctioning by themselves with all the tariffs?

This article lacks a lot of things, and seems to underscore the obvious (America bad) without providing much detail.
The U.S. ‘kidnapping’ Maduro (which could be construed as number of different ways) is only the latest way which this administration in particular, but also the Nation in general, has flagrantly disregarded honor, justice, the rule of law.
Unfortunately this track record extends all the way back to before the founding of the country.
Imagine Elie arguing that the tea dumping Boston protesters should have been jailed because that tea was private property and laws were broken.
We’re finding more and more that the strong and powerful make the rules, until they’re stopped, by force if necessary. There is no natural rule of law, it is a construct that we *choose* to abide by until one chooses not to.
Weaksauce article, doesn’t really do much to explore this topic and provides a really weak argument for a laughable action. USA could not be sanctioned.
