More than 100 e-bike riders have converged at Docklands at 2:45pm today (Saturday, 17 January), gathering behind the Melbourne Yard West tower near the intersection of Harbour Esplanade and Docklands Drive. 📹 Footage shows riders taking over the roadway, weaving in and out of moving traffic and causing disruption in the area. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to take care if traveling through Docklands this afternoon.

Completely different note, but I’ve noticed a rise in hyper-local media posts (like “Wyndham TV”) in recent weeks, that isn’t linked to a major media outlet. Is it some sort of content aggregator?

Edit: the videos all have the same formatting and style when it comes to captioning etc

I’ve seen so many of these kids riding around on the street like they own it, thinking cars will instantly give them the right of way – and everyone else will bend at the knee.

Some of them will get a rude awakening one day riding like a total dipshit.

  3. Why aren’t they out terrorising the streets with machetes like every other teenager in the state? (Herald Sun)

  4. Just because they’re not middle aged, in Lycra and it’s not 6am, everyone gets scared

  5. If only they weren’t such cunts. Or at least the few that fuck it up for everyone. Last time I encountered them they kicked the mirror off my car as they went past.

  6. I live right next to where this was taken, I saw some sick as monos but besides burning through red lights in a pack there were no issues at all – I’ve got no problems with kids getting out and bending the rules a bit.

  7. If they don’t have peddles they’re not e-bikes, they’re electric motorbikes and they’re illegal to ride on the street unless they’re registered and the rider has a licence. I hate that I’ve become the “old man yelling at clouds” but these bikes should never have been allowed to be imported.

  8. If they were on normal push bikes as we did back in the day – no issue.

This kids will continue to run people over and eventually kill someone else. These aren’t ‘toys’ there are proper motorbikes and high powered electric bikes.

    It’s not okay.

Having almost seen a 7 year old girl being taken out by one recently – minding her own business playing in a park.

  9. These are not e-bikes. They’re electric motorbikes.

Stop blaming e-bikes for whatever these illegal things are.

Well at least someone is using Docklands.

The only issue is they are riding like twats on a road that is shared with other vehicles.
I could almost guarantee that if anything happened to one of these kids on that road (no helmet cause they’re not cool right), any motor vehicle driver would be blamed. Always have a dash cam.

  11. Sounds good! Why shouldn’t they go out for a group ride? Could be a bit more tidy about it though
