From more transport strikes to wine and chocolate festivals and the close of Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, here’s what to expect in Italy this week.
Monday, January 19th
Bolzano public transport strike – Bus drivers in the northern city of Bolzano working for public transport operator SASA are set to strike for four hours on Monday, from 4pm to 8pm.
Campania transport strike – Staff of public transport operator EAV’s Vesuvian Lines, which provides rail connections from Naples to destinations including Sorrento and Pompeii, have declared a 24-hour strike on Monday.
Service is guaranteed from 5.30-8.30am and 4.30-7.30pm.
Tuesday, January 20th
Last day of Men’s Fashion Week – Tuesday is the last day for fashion devotees to catch Milan Men’s Fashion Week, which this year runs from January 16th-20th.
Inter-Arsenal match in Milan – Fashion Week isn’t the only event taking place in Milan on Tuesday: Arsenal and Inter Milan are set to face off in a UEFA Champions League match at San Siro Stadium, with kick off at 9pm.
Thursday, January 22nd
Olympic torch arrives in Venice – The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic torch relay arrives in Venice on Thursday, first passing through Chioggia and Mestre before reaching the iconic St. Mark’s Square for the lighting ceremony at 7pm.
Bergamo Chocolate Festival opens – The 13th edition of Bergamo’s Chocolate Festival gets going on Thursday, with 20 exhibitors from Catania to Cuneo selling locally-produced goods until Sunday.
Stands will be open along the Sentierone promenade every day from 9am until 7.30pm, and until 10pm on Saturday.

Dolomites classic car rally – Italy’s Dolomites mountain range will form the dramatic backdrop to the 38th classic car Winter Marathon, set to run from Thursday to Saturday.
129 entrants are signed up to participate in this year’s rally, with the first stage leaving from the ski town of Madonna di Campiglio at 7pm.
Sunday, January 25th
Vini Migranti wine expo in Florence – Florence’s annual two-day Vini Migranti wine fair will get going on Sunday from 11am until 7pm.
The exhibition brings together 90 producers from over 15 countries , offering attendees the opportunity to sample more than 300 wines.
