Under overcast skies nationwide on Monday, rain or snow is expected across the country’s central region.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, precipitation will begin in eastern Gangwon Province Sunday night before spreading to central areas and southern inland regions in the early hours of Monday.
Up to three centimeters of snow in Gangwon’s mountains is forecast, with around one centimeter expected in the rest of Gangwon, Gyeonggi, and the Chungcheong region.
Precipitation is likely to taper off Monday morning, followed by a sharp temperature drop as cold northern air moves in.
Morning lows Monday are forecast to range from minus five to plus six degrees Celsius, with daytime highs reaching minus three to plus ten degrees.
Temperatures in the central region are expected to fall further on Tuesday, dipping below minus ten degrees as the cold snap persists through the week.
