  1. Having spent a fuckton of money while raping our planet is both the price and the indicator who won.

“Whoever wins, we lose,” as an awful film once put it.

Ignoring military and hostile uses, the ultimate aim appears to me to be outsourcing on steroids. Make humans jobless again.

Otherwise why put hundreds of billions into it? That money is expected to generate a truly astronomical return on investment (since the investment itself is record-breaking). And since wages are a principle cost for any business…

Not saying it’s likely to pay off for them, but I’m pretty certain we should all be ****ed that that’s the world they want.

Without even starting on Bezos and co’s fever dream that we won’t own anything, and will rent everything from Amazon. Not even allowed a gaming PC 🙁

Honestly, if the ultimate vision of these CEOs comes true, the world will be cooked for us plebs.

  3. private sector wants to create super intelligence that churns out medical and engineering breakthroughs that can be sold, but for humanity in the long term then hopefully something like the star trek universe where humans can still earn credits working basic jobs like working as a bartender on the starship enterprise..

  4. Ironically, if super intelligence is possible, the benchmark is a total loss of control of that technology.

  5. Well, basically idea is that we will create a super smart dud, so it will be smart enough to create super-super smart dud and that one will create mega smart dud and so on and in process duds also solve all our problems ~~and communism finally happen.~~ So winner is ho can create first dud and then it would be exponential by itself and all others will fell behind forever.
Naturally nothing like that will really happen, what will – nobody knows, but that seems really imported and so as idea “not to loose to China” (and vice versa) so everybody running loosing pants.

  6. Zuckerberg is a STEM bro college freshman with arrested development; Bezos may as well start wearing a Mao suit for all that separates him from a literal Bond villain; Karp is a public drug addict.

Thiel is a confessed fan of LOTR’s Mordor who fantasizes about creating technoLebensraum in Greenland, which is probably the real reason why Trump wants it.

Huang, Pichai and Nadella are amoral dinner guests in an Asian parent’s psychopathic dollar sign fever dream.

Altman is a very untrustworthy guy, the worst of the lot, somehow even more slimy than Musk (who is pseudo-fascist but in-your-face).

So in all, very excited for my future life under the rule of these very well-adjusted corpoTsars.

  7. The winning AI will have achieved perfect mediocrity in stunning speed. Truly can’t wait!

  8. The people in that round table only talked about when and how but never addressed why. In order to talk about a “winner” you need to define why you’re playing this game. They don’t know. Nobody knows because there is no goal to achieve.

There is nothing in GenAI that was not already available in a Google search. GenAI is trained on the same internet you’ve had access to for decades. What makes anybody think that all the answers to the world’s toughest questions are suddenly going to shake out now that the content has been re-shuffled? There’s nothing new in there.

The people in this panel don’t know why, the CEOs of the companies in the bubble don’t know why, the politicians sure as hell don’t know why. It’s nothing but a game of bluff with everyone trying to pretend its important when they don’t even know what “it” is.

The reality is this is the first nation to develop an AI agent that can run reliable, repeatable research 24/7 will gain an overwhelming advantage over any country that can’t.

    Thats the first benchmark.
