Three Sweden announced the commercial launch 5G Standalone (SA), which runs on Ericsson’s products and solutions, including network slicing for enterprises. It went live in December.
Ericsson’s tech powers the cloud-native core and RAN solutions, although the press release did not name which products, solutions and services are involved.
First in Sweden
Rajib Eklund, Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO), Three Sweden, says, “The launch…is a crucial step…in delivering enhanced services to our customers, and I am proud that we…are the first in Sweden to…offer this. Ericsson’s 5G technology allows us to…improve network efficiency and create tailored connectivity solutions to meet the diverse needs of Swedish businesses and people.”
5G SA is also more energy efficient per gigabyte than previous generations of mobile technology.
Fixed Wireless Access
Three Sweden is also offering FWA to households and enterprise customers, mostly in areas beyond the fibre footprint, after a deal with Nokia that was announced last May.
