Polish gas TSO, Gaz-System announced the completion of modernisation works at the Hermanowice metering station, increasing gas export capacity to Ukraine.

Starting in February 2026, total transmission capacity will rise from 600,000 to 720,000 cubic metres per hour. Gaz-System claimed that the completed modernisation works represent another action to support the security of gas supplies for Ukraine and strengthen regional cooperation. The company stated this also confirms Poland’s role as a country facilitating the transit of gas for the Central and Eastern European region.

The expansion in the north coincides with the growing importance of the southern Vertical Corridor. This strategic network, which links Greece to Ukraine via Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova, has seen increased utilisation as it facilitates the delivery of non-Russian gas
