  1. The people of his Battle River-Crow Foot should be ashamed – not just in Pierre, but in themselves too. Pierre promised lots to them, but in the end it was just to use them. But at the same time, you honestly, wholeheartedly can’t say that you would never expect this from a guy like Pierre. When they were going to elect him for this riding, it was like a brick being thrown at their face. People tried to push them out of the way, but they just kind of moved closer.

They had, what was it, 213 other people on the ballet? Yet they fully trusted the new guy from Ottawa to support them. Just saying, don’t colour me surprised.

  2. Honestly as a Conservative, just find a new leader. He has no real world experience which is a huge turn off. He was trying to be like Trump too much, Carney is doing an excellent job for Canada.

  3. It’s going to be somewhere in southern Calgary. I know some people are suggesting he’ll run in Renfrew, but I find that highly unlikely given the chance of him losing there. Poilievre’s team has built their entire strategy on being risk averse, as evidenced by the choice of BRC for his temporary seat. He’s not going to leave anything to chance.

Since there’s no election in the near future, there was absolutely zero urgency to announce this.

This is essentially the Conservative Party going out of its way to issue a press release reading “Screw the voters, you have never mattered to us in any way. You exist solely to serve Pierre’s political ambition.”

  5. Poilievre will pass his leadership review, even if the numbers are unimpressive.

Reasonable conservatives, realize that Poilievre is not your guy. The momentum he had is done. He’s a one trick pony. Don’t believe me? Today, Mark Carney had a blunt and impassioned speech in Davos about the current state of the world’s order. It impressed people across the political spectrum, and it’s making international headlines. Poilievre? All his posts have to do with the carbon tax. The carbon tax!!!!

You’re not going to get the momentum you want continuing to complain about the carbon tax to the average joe. Reasonable conservatives have been calling on the CPC to shut up about it and move on. But Poilievre and those around him who control the party refuse to change.

Poilievre is not good for democracy. Waiting around for people to become tired of the Liberals is not a strategy. But unless you’re the type of fan of the conservatism Poilievre is serving, all you’re going to get it more of the same.

  6. I like this bit:

    >Poilievre won handily in a byelection with just over 80 per cent of the vote. Last year’s byelection had 214 candidates, making it the largest number of candidates on a federal ballot in Canadian history.

As little respect I have for the man that won’t get his security clearance, he has beaten more candidates in a single election in Canadian history. You could even say he beat himself in his original riding. He doesn’t win all the important races but when he wins, he wins big.

  7. Gets a ‘makeover’ for his political aspirations because he looked too nerdy.

Loses an election he supposedly had gift wrapped.

    Loses his own riding.

Goes to some shoe-in riding because he’s afraid of a real race.

Doesn’t even live in that riding and completely disrespects the people there and obviously doesn’t care about their interests.

    Tanking poll numbers.

Sides with the guy who wants to annex our country.

Privately met with the fringe-right wingers who mentioned raping his wife on a podcast.

Multiple Conservatives cross the floor/leave the party.

Tables the lowest amount of legislation despite being a career politician.

    Never held a real job.

    Conservatives.. ????

  8. Why? Because he does nothing and still want his 6 figure salary while being a slumlord on the side, then complaining how others do not work.

After he spent $2M for another election, now this?
How is he still the leader?
Conservatives must find someone better. We are Canadians. We have smart people. None of them happen to be conservative?

PP needs to step down for the good of the Party. He is past his best before date and he doesn’t resonant with the average conservative voter.

  11. if Carney were to do this, the same conservatives who seem to think running in 3 different ridings b/c no one wants you is normal would be having conniptions.

He has to appeal to the working class in order to have any chance but all he cares about his crime and carbon tax.

  13. Poilievre should pack it up. The world needs serious leadership, something he and much of his caucus is incapable of delivering.

  14. If the Carney show has taught me anything, it’s that in reality, other than the larger-than-I’d-like fringe of conservative voters, it’s just how small the gap is between the majority of conservatives and liberals. As a non-Conservative, (and mostly non-liberal), conservatives deserve a non-psychotic leader. Carney is performing as well as Canada needs him to in this moment (and frankly the world needs him to), but he’s performing way higher than the liberals need him to in the context of liberal vs. conservative politics. He’d still be ahead if he worked less hard.
