The Portuguese handball team made history by defeating the four-time world champion, Denmark, for the first time, with a score of 29-31 in the last round of the group stage of the European Championship. This result placed Portugal at the top of Group B, with five points, thanks to this victory, the win over Romania (40-34), and the draw with North Macedonia (29-29).
Rui Silva, Leonel Fernandes, and Ricardo Brandão were Paulo Jorge Pereira’s choices, while José LuÃs Ferreira was not listed on the game sheet.
Portugal will compete in Group I of the main stage, which also includes today’s opponents: Germany, Spain, Norway, and France.
