  1. This just read like a continuation of neoliberal economics though:

Since my government took office, we have cut taxes on incomes, on capital gains and business investment. We have removed all federal barriers to interprovincial trade. We are fast tracking a trillion dollars of investments in energy, AI, critical minerals, new trade corridors and beyond. We’re doubling our defence spending by the end of this decade, and we’re doing so in ways that build our domestic industries.

  2. Possibly the best evidence for the power and quality of that speech is the absolute meltdown happening among the most dedicated conservative influencers and pundits.

Conservatives largely seem to be split into “guys, we have to admit that was a good speech” and…whatever the fuck is going on with the Post Media Opinion Team.

It’s really interesting to see how much they’re flailing. Like they’ve been told they need to find some way to change the perception of the speech.

I watched it twice, really good speech and I learned a lot about the direction of Canada’s foreign policy strategy. It was bold and honest. And honestly we written.
