The US already has ‘mineral rights’ for Greenland, as in they are free to invest in mineral extraction. This has been in place since forever. But of course he is going to frame this as a win.

  2. It is funny seeing how U.S is hijacking resources from countries through bullying, threats etc. And then fearmongers about China, whereas in reality, China is making deals.

So basically nothing really changed as the US and Greenland effectively had an understanding on this matter way back in 2019-2020.

They should make a deal with him including only stuff they already have in Groenland. Pretty sure Trump wouldn’t even know he got dupped.

  5. So we’ve got to the ‘triumphant parade with chestfuls of seashells’ stage already.

Sounds like a concept of a plan we will be eagerly waiting to hear about in two weeks.

  7. From the early 1950s onward, the US could do whatever it wanted with Greenland, as long as it was within legal limits. But Trump will act as if he bullied Europe into submission and extracted more concessions than anyone before, and his followers will eat it all up.

lol this already existed but the minerals aren’t economically viable for extraction

I thought this was about US security… now I’m confused. 🤔 Could it be Trump was full of shit as usual…

  10. NATO can’t negotiate on behalf of Greenland any more than Denmark can. And America has deals for military bases and minerals etc. with Greenland already.

When will americans cart their senile grandad to a care facility? He shouldn’t be allowed outside on his own anymore.

  11. Rehash an existing deal, make a huge deal out of how great a deal it was, put his name all over it, then when it backfires blame it on Democrats. Rinse, repeat. (i.e. What he did with NAFTA or that shitty oil production deal he made with the Saudis and Russia, or his negotiations with the Taliban…)

  12. The. WORST. President. EVER.

He will 1000% take this as a win even though nothing has changed… Such a clown

  13. Isn’t Greenland specifically not mining because of environmental and indigenous concerns?

  14. HaggisHunter93 on

Of course, sure. Who would’ve guessed? At least he didn’t kidnap the boss of NATO, that’s a positive.

  15. I hope we find out later that they had a secret meeting and told Trump we are all prepared to dump 100% of your debt today unless you make a statement. You get nothing new but you can spin it to your dumbass base as a win and you get to call Jarred to make $ of the stock rebound.

  16. But he said this afternoon that he wasn’t interested in Greenland’s minerals. That wasn’t a lie, surely?

Trump made a new deal. It’s identical to the old one, but this one is new. Art of the deal.

Fellow Canadians, we should be concerned. This is appeasement all over again. Just wait until he turns his sights to our resources and starts the extortion racket.

Unfortunately it may be too easy. The low IQs over in Alberta have already been brainwashed by their American-owned media and conspiracy theories.

  19. The Secretary of NATO can’t negotiate on mineral rights of a member country. But the US already has access to both build defense installations and mineral minerals from Greenland if they want.

So did they just sit President Trump down with a NATO official to “negotiate” for promises that the US already has just placate him as if he were a screaming toddler?

  20. I love the logic here. Fine we won’t take over your country but you give us everything a value in your country anyways.

  21. Can we see this ‘framework’? I’m pretty sure NATO doesnt really do a lot with mineral rights. Especially on behalf of sovereign nations. Yeah, its probably horseshit.
