A consortium of French telecom operators Bouygues Telecom, Free (Iliad Group), and Orange has confirmed ongoing discussions with the Altice Group regarding a potential acquisition of a significant portion of Altice’s telecommunications activities in France.

According to the companies, due diligence on the prospective transaction began in early January 2026. While the talks are ongoing, the legal and financial terms of any potential deal have not yet been agreed upon.

The consortium cautioned that there is no guarantee the discussions will result in a formal agreement. Any transaction would remain subject to approval by the governance of the parties involved, as well as to customary regulatory and contractual conditions.

A market communication will be issued as appropriate, depending on the progress of the project and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. The move reflects continued consolidation activity in the French telecom sector, as operators explore strategies to strengthen market positions and expand service offerings.
