The article reports that the Trump administration is actively pursuing regime change in Cuba by the end of the year, seeking insiders within the Cuban government willing to negotiate an exit from Communist rule. Officials believe Cuba’s economy is near collapse, worsened by the loss of subsidized Venezuelan oil after Nicolás Maduro’s ouster, and see the Venezuela operation as both a model and an implicit threat. While Washington lacks a concrete post-regime plan, it is escalating economic and diplomatic pressure while signaling openness to a negotiated off-ramp. Analysts warn, however, that Cuba’s tightly controlled one-party system and weak civil society make a similar outcome far harder to achieve.

It’s refreshing to see the US be so blatant about these regime change operations these days. They used to be so covert in the past.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s timed carefully to happen before the midterms

The part about them having no idea how to go about it really drives draws attention to the absurd mundanity of it all.

I think regime change at home is equally as plausible by the end of the year.

Cuba just needs to play along and wait until 2028 to reverse their stance.

Might be trying to do it closer to midterms to potentially get a boost in the polls (especially in Florida)

Makes sense. Frankly I’m surprised they didn’t do it after the Havana thing. Seems like, like Venezuela, Cuba is just another Russian administrative state. If you notice, this administration obviously got wise to the game, because everything they’re doing lately, Venezuela, the ships, Greenland, looks like actions to bar Russia from pulling crap.
