The Kosovo Correctional Service has announced that a total of 1.758 prisoners are currently being held in the correctional institutions of the Kosovo Correctional Service, while there are free capacities of around 800 beds.

A further announcement states that reports in some media outlets that the Kosovo Correctional Service lacks capacity are untrue.

Following information circulating in some media outlets regarding the lack of capacity in correctional institutions, we inform the public that a total of 1,758 prisoners are currently being held in the correctional institutions of the Kosovo Correctional Service.

The Kosovo Correctional Service has free capacity of around 800 beds, therefore claims of a lack of capacity do not hold up. Correctional institutions have sufficient space to accept new cases.

This announcement is made with the aim of accurately informing public opinion and preventing misinformation.

The Kosovo Correctional Service and the Police of the Republic of Kosovo have an agreement of understanding for institutional cooperation, within which, depending on the situations created, each other’s facilities can be temporarily used. /Telegraph/
