"Tolerance is the essence of conservatism" – Ishiba speaks at street rally against discrimination
On the evening of the 23rd, the day the House of Representatives was dissolved, a street appeal against discrimination was held in front of JR Shinjuku Station in Tokyo , and former Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru delivered a message.
In his message, Ishiba pointed out that "the essence of conservatism is an honest and tolerant attitude that does not tolerate prejudice or discrimination, respects others, and humbly listens to their opinions."
During the street appeals, lawyers and university students gave relay speeches. Opposition politicians from the Center Reform Alliance, the Japanese Communist Party , and the Social Democratic Party also took to the microphone to harshly criticize the policies of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
Afterwards, Kiyoshi Matsuo, a music producer and one of the people calling for the street appeal, announced that he had received a message from former LDP President Ishiba, which elicited surprised exclamations of "Huh?" from the audience of nearly 100 people. After the message was read out, applause broke out.
This street appeal, the third in its kind, was launched in response to the widespread discriminatory behavior against foreigners and people with roots overseas during last year's House of Councillors election . The theme of the appeal was "We will not tolerate a society where rumors and discrimination are rampant."

Compared to Takaichi, Ishiba is **REALLY DECENT**.
We miss Ishiba
It‘s literally not, but I support the effort.
Literally the opposite, but I’m glad someone is speaking against discrimination
…have they never picked up a piece of conservative literature?
